Worcester Neighborhood Impacted by Police Corruption
July 25, 2008 by Administrator
Many of the officers being investigated for corruption at the Worcester Police Department came from the city’s Vice Squad which has large influence over the quality of life in the troubled Main South neighborhood.
The Worcester T&G reports:
Earlier this month, Main South received added attention from the vice squad as officers saturated the area to clean up prostitution and drug dealing.
Now, five of the officers involved in that beefed-up effort — two of them supervisors — have been transferred as the police department investigates them for allegedly fraudulently claiming overtime pay for testifying in court cases.
There are seven officers under investigation with five coming from the vice squad and the two others, both sergeants, in the license division. All seven have been transferred to other divisions.
