Massachusetts Clearly a Leader in Clinical Trials

Clinical Research NursesThere has been concern that Massachusetts was not home to enough clinical trials, which is one measure of how successful the local life-sciences industry is working. It turns out, for the moment at least, Massachusetts is holding its own.

Federal statistics show Massachusetts researchers are looking for volunteers in more than 1,900 different studies.

The Boston Globe reports:

Gabrieli, a venture capitalist, said the state does especially well when it comes to early-stage trials, the kind of cutting-edge research that is most important to maintaining the state’s position as a major life sciences center. And Gabrieli, a partner with Bessemer Venture Partners in Wellesley, said he couldn’t think of any companies that have moved to California, Illinois, or other states because they host more clinical trials.
